Hêlger Design was founded by designer Johanne Helger.
Since 2003, I have been working with sustainable fashion and slow fashion—with a special understanding of the female form, shaped by many years of experience as a costume designer in the theater and television industries. In my designs, I combine aesthetics and functionality with a fit that feels natural and comfortable.
Micro fashion
I work with an approach to fashion that I call " micro fashion."
Micro fashion is an alternative to fast fashion and is based on small collections, one-of-a-kind styles, and limited editions. Instead of mass production, it’s about creating clothing with care, quality, and personality.
Thoughtful slow fashion
I take a conscious approach to both materials and production. My clothing is designed with a focus on: organic and eco-friendly textiles, long-lasting durability, and responsible production. All styles are manufactured in sewing workshops that offer decent working conditions and fair wages.
Materials and Liability

A crackdown on overproduction
My brand was created as an alternative to an industry that has long been characterized by overproduction and a lack of accountability.
That’s why I work with small-batch production and pre-orders, maintaining close communication with my customers. My goal is to create clothing that is worn and cherished—not forgotten.
Design Through Dialogue
At Hêlger Design, the customer plays an active role in the process. I regularly use social media to invite dialogue and feedback on new designs.
Some of our production is done on a pre-order basis. This means that, as a customer, you help decide what gets produced—and how much. This way, we avoid producing clothing that won’t be worn. Learn more about Pre-order.
Part of the Ecouture Collective
I am part of the Ecouture Collective and am helping to develop a platform for micro fashion alongside other designers. My designs are sold through Ecouture and can be viewed both online and at their store in Copenhagen. See my designs at Ecouture
