Ecouture's measurement guide

Why should I take my goals?

To make sure you get the right size first time, it's important that you measure your body before you order your clothes from us. It may take a few extra minutes, but we promise you it's time well spent.

How do I take my goals?

It's not difficult to measure yourself. All you need is a tape measure. If you don't have a tape measure handy, you can use string, yarn or something similar and measure your circumference on a ruler or ruler.

You need to take the following measurements:

Chest: Measure your chest at the widest point and make sure the tape measure goes straight across your back.

Waist: Measure your waist at the narrowest point.

Hip: Measure the hip about 20 cm down from the waist - at the widest point and make sure the tape measure goes straight across the buttocks.

Ecouture's standard goal chart

See Ecouture's standard measurements below. However, please note that our designs can vary in fit, so always double-check under the individual measurements on the products' own pages. You probably won't fit the measurements 100% - so aim for the bust to fit you well (+ 1-3 cm). In general, don't be afraid of a little extra width in the fabric of 2-5 cm and preferably more in the hip width. But of course, there shouldn't be any measurements that you can't fit at all! Then you need to go up a size. And remember that cotton in particular shrinks 2-4% depending on how you wash it.

Face guide - choose the right dress cut

At Ecouture, we strive to create designs that fit as many body shapes as possible. But we can't always embrace all body shapes in a single design, and different body types may look better in certain dress cuts than others.

That's why we've created a little shape guide to help you decide which dress cut you should go for. Read along below.

Column shape

Characteristics: Smaller breasts - Smaller buttocks

Go for body-hugging dresses that emphasize your waist. Avoid blouses that are the same color as your bottoms as this will make your curves flow. Tops and dresses with an empire cut will also flatter your figure. Avoid A-shaped dresses as you need dresses that hug your waist and give you shape. Instead, look for dresses with cuts, small belts or ties.

Remember: Short blouses and jackets cut you right where your waist is, giving you a boxy shape instead.

Pear shape

Characteristics: Wider hips - Bigger thighs - Bigger butt - Narrow shoulders - Smaller breasts - Flat stomach

Your narrow shoulders allow you to wear most tops. A blazer with broad shoulders will fit your figure well and even out the difference between your upper and lower body. Take advantage of your narrow shoulders and slender torso and choose dresses that are tight at the top but flared at the bottom.

Remember: Dresses and skirts with a good, airy width in the skirt focus on the waist and bust and are flattering on the hips and thighs.

Apple shape

Characteristics: Larger breasts - Smaller hips - Smaller butt - Slimmer legs
Choose dresses with a nice neckline as it draws attention to your bust. A-line or empire cut dresses that are tight at the top but loose at the bottom are great for this body shape.

Reverse triangle shape

Characteristics: Wider shoulders - Narrower hips - Smaller butt - Longer legs

Choose a dress that has a marked waistline. The empire cut works well as it fits snugly under the bust but falls loosely over the stomach, drawing attention to the slimmest part of your torso: the area just below the chest. Always remember to choose a dress with a deep neckline. The wide, plunging neckline helps to harmonize your chest area with the rest of your body.

Go for slim tops, preferably with prints, or v-necks that draw attention downwards.

Hourglass shape

Characteristics: Bigger breasts - Bigger butt - Bigger hips - Smaller waist

The Marilyn Monroe-inspired dress with a narrow waist and loose skirt is right up your alley. It's all about showing off your curves, so choose tight blouses and tops. Your narrow shoulders can easily carry jackets and blouses with puff sleeves or shoulder pads. On the other hand, avoid long sweaters that go way down past your buttocks as your curves will drown in them.

Look for dresses with a high waist and a flared skirt to accentuate your curves. You can also go for the body-hugging versions: Always go for tight blouses and tops - loose-fitting clothes don't flatter your figure.
